Our Story

INSPIRATION

Inspired by the rustic pottery designs of the early settlers — we refined them slightly — punched up their blues and browns using modern glazes and reshaped them to make them suitable for contemporary menus.

We use the boldest design on a generously sized charger to establish a base for the other plates in the set. It would complement any dinnerware you already have — it updates traditional plates and looks great with modern ones. Or use it on its own as a cheeseboard — or to serve anything family style.

We placed a very thin — extremely thin — band of color on the dinner plate believing the plate designs should frame — not take attention away from — your food. Use it with other plates in the set or with any plates in your cabinet — its subtle design works with anything you have.

We updated the traditional flow pattern that has remained popular since first being scratched into America’s earliest pottery, placing it on a shallow bowl to be used for the pastas and salads we eat so often.

MANUFACTURE

The plates are manufactured with care by the supplier to generations of Asian and European aristocracy since the beginning of the 19th Century.

The underglaze designs are baked into the plates at the highest temperature the proprietorial materials can tolerate. After setting the design, the plates receive a second high firing during which they are quickly vitrified making them look like delicate porcelain—while maintaining the strength and chip resistance of bone china. Holding them up to the light you can almost see through them. artificial and candlelight dance over their glassy surfaces.

CARE

All the plates are dishwasher and microwave safe and conform to all safety and environmental protocols including California.

AVAILABILITY

The boxed set of three plates are shipped from Brooklyn anywhere in the US.

The set is available for $185.
